Finals Week And How I Find Inspiration.

"Be stronger than your excuses."

...

I procrastinate most of my time away already, so how on earth do I try to write a book and study for finals while keeping up with all of the other demands of life?

Well..

I don't.

Right now I'm kinda stuck in a weird in-between.

I didn't realize that the pace in a story was so important and so hard. So I'm kinda trying to research that a lot so I an figure out how to do that better so I can use those new tools to write better. It's tough when you have a really emotional scene and then have to go back to writing the story and making it go. If that makes any sense what-so-ever. But I took a few days off because I was unable to write.

On top of that, this week is finals, and my study buddy and best friend got in a car accident and is unable to come to school or do any of her finals since she has a concussion. Which, besides being awful because shes hurt, sucks because then I cannot snowboard and have to do all the studying by my self.

Which leads me to my point...

Quotes and Inspirational stuff.

When school gets stressful, when life gets hectic, and when writing just sucks, my ceiling gets me through it.

Let me explain.

Above my bed, on my ceiling I have a bunch of quotes taped up. (About.. 250 now I believe, pictured above.)

The quotes I put on my ceiling are hopeful, optimistic, inspirational, and writing related.

Here are a few of my favorites.

"You fail only if you stop writing."

"She was afraid of hights but she was more afraid of never flying"

"May your dreams come true and your dragons be few."

"Write like it matters and it will."

"Time may pass and life may get in the way, but you can always get back into writing. All you need to do it start."

"The art of writing is the art of discovering what you believe."

"The master has failed more than the beginner has tried."

And something a friend tells me whenever we say goodnight,

"Dream fierce my friend."

These are only a couple, but they are ones that stand out to me when I look up. These quotes bring me strength when I really want to give up.

I also have song lyrics, and I need to add more right now, but here are a few songs I have above me.

Start over by Flame ft NF

If we are the body by Casting Crowns

Guilty by Newsboys

Superheros by The Script

Something beautiful by needtobreath

In my room by TFK

And last but not least...

Believer by Imagine Dragons

Some people think it looks cluttered and is kinda weird to have little handwritten colored peices of paper on my ceiling, but to me it's hope and inspiration and healing. Some people take stuff up around their desk, or have framed quotes, I just have a different way of doing that.

I don't know what you think, but you can let me know in the comments. Also, what songs do you enjoy? How do you imspire yourself? How do you keep a good pace in your story? What are some of your favorite quotes?

Much love,

Thane
