5 Podcasts You Should Check Out

Updated: Mar 16, 2021

Yesterday I had to study for finals, so I didn't post, so today I'm posting a normal blog post to substitute for that, and to covers tomorrows post. So the next time you'll hear from me is next Friday. That post will be epic, so make sure to watch your inboxes for that.

I've heard for quite a long time that podcasts are pretty great, but I'd never listened to one. Recently, my favorite blogger started her own podcast and I've really enjoyed it, so I decided to try others. Here are the couple of the ones I've enjoyed.

Hannah Heath is my favorite blogger by far. She has clever fandom references, uses great gifs, and had really solid writing advice. She has now Indie published two books, Skies of Dripping Gold and Colors of Fear. I own Skies of Dripping Gold and LOVE it. It's pretty short, but really really good world building, character development, and voice. I just ordered Colors of Fear yesterday and cannot wait to read it. She answers questions that people sent in with the #chatwithhannah tag.

This is also by Hannah Heath (seriously guys, I was not kidding about her being my favorite blogger). In these videos Hannah interviews other Indie authors, like the title suggests. She asks them her own questions and then asks them the questions that people sent in using the #chatwithindieauthor tag.

Kyle Robert Shultz has Indie published multiple books all set in the same world. The Beaumont & Beasly series is pretty awesome, and I'd highly suggest you buy them. I've only read the first book, but I couldn't put it down, and promptly ordered the second.

In his podcasts, Kyle talks about writing fearlessly, as his title also suggests.

The Phoenix Fiction Writers are a collective of Indie Authors. Among them are Kyle Robert Shultz and Hannah Heath (He He...). Hannah kinda directs the podcasts and in each one she has two of the other authors come on. It's really great for people who are interested in Indie publishing, and just newer writers in general.

I'd also highly suggest checking out their books, they are write speculative fiction that falls into either the Sci-fi or Fantasy genre. I have all their books on my to buy list I'm just trying not to spend all my money on books (Mostly because my parents are concerned with my book addiction.)

There tag line is "15 minutes long, because you're in a hurry, and were not that smart". I beg to differ, but I do enjoy the length. It's perfect when you don't have much time, but still long enough that you get some really solid advice. I've learned a lot from Howard, Dan, and Brandon through their podcast. They are funny and smart, and end every episode with a writing prompt and "You're out of excuses, now go write."

On the page I linked it to it says to start on season 10, I didn't see that so I started on season 1, which I think is great. I was so addicted to them that I blew through 3 seasons in the space of a week.

I have yet to read any of their works, but with the great advice that they give, I assume their writing is really good. But if you are to listen to any of these five podcasts, listen to this one. The writing advice is amazing.

Check out their podcasts and tell me what you think. Do you have any podcasts you love? Tell me about them!! I'd really love some suggestions for where to go next.

Much Love,

Thane
